The Sportivi Ghiaccio Cortina reports:
a) Sunday 6 th January, during the game against Aquile Pontebba, the Hafro Cortina player Matt Siddal, when charging an opponent, suffered a wrist injury.
b) After first aid by the ice ring, Siddal was first transported to Tolmezzo hospital and later to Pordenone’s where he entered the surgical ward (surgery of the hand, microsurgery and traumatology ward).
c) Siddal had successful surgery on Monday 7th and may be back to Cortina by the end of the week.
“We want to thank all physicians and surgeons who took care of our player” says Sandro Moser, President of the Sportivi Ghiaccio Cortina, “from Giuseppe Floridia, our team doctor, who gave first aid, to the whole medical team of Pordenone Hospital who operated Siddal yesterday in the afternoon. Thanks to all the players of Hafro Cortina, who were constantly in contact with the hospital to be informed about their team mate and to the many supporters who kept calling us to have news about the health of their beloved champion. Although the surgery was successful, Matt will need some months to fully recover and so be able to handle his hockey stick again. Therefore, sadly too soon, his season is over.
In behalf of the Sportivi Ghiaccio Cortina and personally, I wish Siddal to get well soon and I look forward to seeing him back to the ice ring. Once more I thank Matt for his great commitment to the team and for the exciting moments of his first class hockey we all enjoyed.
Soon back on ice we will greet: Hudec (out for a flu) and Gron (out for muscles pain) whilst Edwardson will not be back for a few games.
